Description
Fruit
Medium-firm, melting, very juicy, harmoniously sweet-sour and characteristically spiced.
Growth
Strong vigour; unsuited to wall espaliers due to over-strong growth.
Yield
Tree-ripe mid-September, eating-ripe mid-Sep to Oct; keeps 2-4 weeks in open storage.
Notes
For garden and orchard with no special heat need, up to low mountain areas. Very prone to scab and brown rot (which can destroy the whole crop in bad years) and extremely prone to leaf scorch. Suffers greatly from climate change - cultivation can no longer be recommended.
Care
Preventively against brown rot and scab: airy site, remove fallen and rotten fruit. Avoid extreme sunny sites because of leaf scorch.
