Medium-firm, melting, juicy, richly noble-sweet and wine-like, deliciously aromatic.
Growth
Weak to medium vigour; versatile in cultivation.
Yield
Bears mid-early and then stays high and regular.
Notes
For garden, espalier and - with good care - traditional orchard. Also suited to windy, cooler sites, up to low mountain areas (350 m); needs fertile, moist soils and has higher heat demand. Ripens in succession late Sep to early Oct, keeps only about two weeks. Part of the fruit stays storm-firm even when ripe, allowing staggered picking.
Care
Harvest in several passes as fruit ripens successively. Netting is worthwhile since birds peck the sweet fruit; only suitable for orchards with good care.
