Description
Fruit
Melting, juicy, pleasantly sweet-sour with a spicy edge. A prized late winter dessert pear, ready to eat only from early March.
Growth
Medium vigour; especially suited to espalier training.
Yield
Bears early to mid-early, yields moderate to medium-high; regular on suitable sites.
Notes
Demanding variety needing maximum warmth; requires sunny, vineyard-climate sites, tolerates no upland and is frost-sensitive. Tree-ripe late Oct to early Nov, then keeps 4-5 months in a natural store.
Care
Choose a warm, sheltered spot, ideally espalier on a south wall. Store early-picked fruit cool and take out at eating ripeness in spring.
