Half-melting, grainy, juicy fruit, sweet with a wine-sour to bitter note and characteristic spicing.
Growth
Strong-growing but not recommended as a standard tree; well suited to wall espalier.
Yield
Early to medium-early to bear, moderate and regular; the fruit is knocked down by wind.
Notes
Sensitive, demanding variety, recommended only for espalier and garden. Needs warm, sheltered sites, no upland positions and continuously well-fed soils. Tree-ripe mid-October, ready to eat October to December, keeps around 2 months.

Harvest before full tree ripeness as the fruit drops in wind. Choose a warm, sheltered, well-fed site; watch for scab and fireblight.
