Description
Fruit
Melting, medium-firm, sweet with low acidity and fine aroma. Tends to set small fruit.
Growth
Medium vigour, later weak; suited to garden and espalier on a south wall.
Yield
Bears early to mid-early and remains regular thereafter.
Notes
Demanding, well-storing winter dessert pear with very high heat need. Requires warm, fertile, adequately moist soils in sheltered sites up to about 200 m; tolerates no upland. Blooms mid-late. Tree-ripe mid-to-late Oct, eating-ripe December, keeps 4-5 months.
Care
Thin in early July to get larger fruit instead of many small ones. Choose a warm, sheltered site and store cool.
