Storage

Given in thirds of a month (early / mid / late) for the northern hemisphere in a temperate climate; altitude and season shift them.

Description

Fruit

Spicy, tangy-fruity and fresh flavour (rated 2-3, quality +); yields a refreshing single-variety apple juice.

Growth

Strong-growing, medium in age; despite being diploid counts among the largest apple trees. Tall, very broad, dense and heavily branched crown; very long, ascending scaffold branches with typically strongly overhanging shoots. Wind-firm, with very late leafing-out.

Yield

Cropping sets in fairly early and is regular.

Notes

Suited to orchards and gardens, recommended as an orchard variety by the NRW orchard-protection board; keeps about 4-5 months. Because of the short stalk the fruits tend to bruise each other. Tree sensitive to wood frost.

Care

Only little pruning required.
