Description
Fruit
Faintly orange-red striped, cheerfully coloured dessert apple; initially fruity and juicy, developing a typical walnut-like taste after storage (rated 2).
Growth
Medium and steep when young, weak at full bearing; narrow, tall crowns that later fruit only on the outer and upper parts. Steep scaffold branches, typically short laterals. Fruiting on side spurs of two-year long shoots and axillary blossoms on one-year wood.
Yield
Sets in early, moderately fertile, moderately biennial; pre-harvest drop about 20%.
Notes
Only conditionally suited to the garden; keeps about 3-4 months. Harvest around late September to mid October.
Care
Annual pruning with vigorous rejuvenation needed to prevent the crown from going bare.
