Fruit

Crisp and very juicy, sweet-tart to watery in taste. Low in tannins with only modest sugar content, giving a high juice yield.

Growth

Very vigorous, forms large, landscape-defining crowns. A classic tall-stem meadow-orchard tree.

Yield

Comes into bearing late but then delivers high and regular crops.

Notes

Sturdy perry pear even for harsh sites, no special heat needs, recommended up to about 800 m elevation. Suits all soil types including stony ground. Listed in the NRW register of old meadow-orchard varieties. Tree-ripe late September to early October, ready to use in October, keeps about a month.

Undemanding; plan for a large crown as a tall stem. Process fruit for juice and perry promptly.
