Given in thirds of a month (early / mid / late) for the northern hemisphere in a temperate climate; altitude and season shift them.

Fruit

Fine-celled, dense, fully melting flesh brimming with juice, strongly sweet and barely acidic, delicately spiced - regarded as one of the finest November dessert pears.

Growth

Medium growth; fruit wind-firm. For garden, espalier and meadow orchard, as a wall espalier in low mountain areas.

Yield

Comes into bearing late, later medium-high, and tends to biennial bearing.

Notes

Prefers warmer, pear-suited soils with higher heat needs, recommended up to 350 m. Harvest as late as possible - only then full size and best flavour. Tree-ripe mid October to early November, ready in November, keeps about a month with little shrivelling.

Care

Pick as late as possible for full fruit size and flavour. Guard against strong sun as the leaves are prone to sunburn.
