Fruit

Large-fruited, juicy and melting, sweet with a slight wine acidity and spicy aroma.

Growth

Initially medium, later weak growth; not wind-firm. For garden, espalier and, with limits, meadow orchard.

Yield

Tends to biennial bearing, i.e. irregular yields.

Notes

Prefers warm, wind-sheltered sites, higher heat needs, possible up to 600 m, recommended up to 350 m; on light soils needs balanced nutrient and water supply. Frost damage possible in poor spots. Late flowering. Tree-ripe early to mid September, ready mid September to early October. Open storage 2-3 weeks with ripeness checks, cold store 2-3 months.

Care

Harvest before full ripeness because of poor wind-firmness. On light soils ensure even water and nutrient supply; do not store long, check ripeness continuously.
