On suitable sites juicy, sweet-winey and finely muscat-like. In poor locations quality barely exceeds that of a cooking pear.
Growth
Medium growth, fruit wind-firm on the tree; garden and espalier culture, espalier worthwhile.
Yield
Early-starting, high and regular; thin for larger fruit.
Notes
Economical only on very warm, open sites with very high heat needs, preferring low elevations and high-quality pear soils; extremely frost-prone. Tree-ripe late October to early November, ready late December to March, keeps 3-5 months. Harvest as late as possible.

Pick as late as possible. Thin for better fruit size. Plant only on very warm, frost-protected sites; secure as espalier.
