Given in thirds of a month (early / mid / late) for the northern hemisphere in a temperate climate; altitude and season shift them.

Fruit

Somewhat small-fruited, juicy, half-melting to melting, with plenty of sugar and spice plus a pleasantly tart-acidic note. Very good in flavour.

Growth

Weak growth; fruit hangs wind-firm on the tree. For garden, espalier and, with limits, meadow orchard, as a wall espalier in low mountain areas.

Yield

Early-starting, later high and regular yield.

Notes

Winter variety with higher site demands: warmer, open positions, nutrient-rich and sufficiently moist soils, recommended up to 350 m. Scab-prone in humid locations. Tree-ripe mid to late October, ready November to January, keeps 2-3 months (open storage until frost, then natural store).

Choose a warmer, airy site as the variety is scab-prone in humid spots; watch for sunburn-prone leaves. Keep in open storage until frost, then move to natural store.
