Not always melting, refreshing, finely sweet-sour and well-spiced. Turns mealy quickly after picking.

Growth

Weak vigour, forms relatively small crowns.

Yield

Bears from the 5th year on and then stays high and regular; thinning advised.

Notes

Early dessert, cake and juice pear, undemanding and versatile, even above 400 m. Grows especially well on loamy soils, no special heat need. Highly robust with marked frost hardiness, listed among recommended old orchard varieties in NRW. Pick mid-Aug to early-Sep just before ripeness, keeps only 1-2 weeks.

Care

Thin fruit for better size and pick just before ripeness while storm-firm; use up quickly as it goes mealy fast.
