Juicy, semi-melting (hard on unsuitable sites), moderately sweet and barely acidic. A tasty winter pear after storage.

Bearing starts early to mid-early, later medium-high and regular.

Notes

One of the longest-storing winter pears. Needs warm, humus-rich, nutrient-rich and moist soils in an open, warm spot; does not tolerate high elevations or cold/dry soils, higher heat needs. Tree-ripe from early October, ready to eat January to March; pick as late as possible, but risk of sudden fruit drop on foggy days. Keeps 4 to 5 months in natural storage, 6 to 7 months in cold storage.

Care

Grow only on warm, suitable sites, otherwise strong scab and shoot-scab pressure. Pick as late as possible, but watch closely due to sudden fruit drop.
