Description
Fruit
Very juicy, fully melting and buttery, sweet and barely tart, finely aromatic with a muskmelon note and a slight bitterness.
Croissance
Weak growth; suited to espalier and garden. Best on weak rootstocks or as a wall espalier.
Rendement
Cropping starts medium-late; later high and lower yields alternate. Fruit clings to the tree into late October.
Remarques
Very late winter dessert pear; needs nutrient-rich, warm enough and moist soils. Grown up to 350 m. Tree-ripe late Oct to early Nov, eating-ripe Jan to Mar, keeps 2 to 3 months. Protect ripe fruit from birds with nets.
Entretien
Harvest late, as early picking causes rapid shrivelling. Weak rootstocks or a wall espalier make bird-netting easier.
