Description
Fruit
Floral aroma, balanced sugar-acid ratio, spiced, peach-like flavour (grade 2-).
Growth
Vigorous growth, upright when young, broadening once bearing begins; herbaceous habit that is hard to train. Crown a strong pyramid at first, later broad-round and spreading. Scaffolds obliquely upright, later inclined to hanging. Wind-sensitive.
Yield
On seedling rootstock only bears from the 7th-8th year, then medium-high; tends to alternate bearing. Fruit hangs singly.
Notes
For garden and (limited) orchard use. Relatively scab-resistant, but prone to 'Topaz spots'. Keeps about 2 months. Recommended by the NRW orchard-protection committee.
Care
In the bearing phase moderate pruning every 3-4 years; thin blossoms or fruit to counter alternate bearing. Choose a wind-sheltered site.
