Fruit
Round, pale-yellow fruit with a faint reddish flush on the sunny side (grade 2-3).
Growth
Strong-growing tree.
Yield
Very late to come into bearing (around the 15th year); modern improved strains crop noticeably earlier and better.
Notes
One of the oldest varieties, probably arising as early as the 13th century; the modern strain is a daughter of the original. Very robust, suited to difficult soils, high rainfall and higher altitudes. Keeps until Christmas (2-3 months).
Care
Patience needed for the late start of bearing; otherwise an undemanding, robust orchard variety.
