Storage

Given in thirds of a month (early / mid / late) for the northern hemisphere in a temperate climate; altitude and season shift them.

Description

Fruit

Attractive fruit that turns greasy in storage. Only faintly spiced aroma, sweet-sour taste with clean, pure apple flavour and no off-notes (grade 3+).

Growth

Vigorous growth with rather long but thin branches. Steep scaffold limbs carry many thin, densely ramified shoots that later spread horizontally. Crown becomes broad and high-domed with age, open and straggly. Numerous short fruiting wood. Wind-firm.

Yield

Medium-high and regular cropping.

Notes

Prone to canker on heavy soils. Recommended as an orchard variety by the NRW orchard-protection committee. Only limited storage (about 4 weeks).

Care

Cut scaffold limbs and fruiting wood short so branches thicken; regular thinning cuts needed against the dense, straggly ramification.
