Fruit
Rounded, mostly smooth pods with purple, flattened beans. Strong, often astringent base flavour with less fine aroma.
Growth
More vigorous, faster-growing and hardier than Criollo. Forms the backbone of commercial cultivation in West Africa.

High yield; harvested year-round in the tropics. Dominates world production by volume.
