Description
Fruit
Small, russeted fruit (rated 2- where 1 is best). Mild, faintly banana-like aroma; spicy, winey, very good acid-sugar balance; firm flesh.
Growth
Weak growth. Crown medium-sized, flat-round and closed, well branched. Fruiting wood short. Because of the short stalk, fruit often pushes off prematurely.
Yield
Early onset, medium-high; on seedling rootstocks a tendency to biennial bearing. Tends to small fruit.
Notes
For garden; recommended as an orchard variety by the NRW orchard-protection board. Late spring bloom reduces frost damage risk. Demanding and needs much care.
Care
Attentive but sparing pruning for shoot renewal, to prevent senescence and undersized fruit.
