Fine, high-quality dessert apple (grade 1-2): winey muscat aroma, sweet, Cox-like but with less acidity.

Growth

Triploid, vigorous variety, still so in full bearing, often with a slanting trunk. Large, broad crown, spreading from a young age, with overhanging shoots and diagonally upright, later drooping scaffold branches.

Yield

Cropping starts very early, not very heavy but regular. Tends to pre-harvest fruit drop.

Notes

Robust against scab; prone to canker on heavy soils and to mildew in warm wine-growing areas. Prefers cooler sites and demands humid air and good soil. For standard orchards and gardens.

Care

Prune only after flowering as recommended. Because of early drop, pick promptly in several passes; ensure good, not too heavy soil.
