Storage

Given in thirds of a month (early / mid / late) for the northern hemisphere in a temperate climate; altitude and season shift them.

Description

Fruit

Culinary apple (grade 3) with firm, crisp flesh and a balanced sugar-acid ratio, slightly astringent; usable even at an early harvest stage.

Growth

Triploid variety. Very vigorous at first, still moderately vigorous when old, trunk often crooked. Large, wide-spreading, umbrella-shaped, often irregular crown with strong, thick, flat scaffold branches. Fruiting wood develops slowly. Wind-firm until maturity.

Yield

Cropping starts late.

Notes

Robust against scab and mildew; somewhat prone to canker on heavy soils. Suited to standard orchards.

Care

Prune only moderately as the variety grows vigorously; give the slow-forming fruiting wood time and avoid heavy thinning.
