Given in thirds of a month (early / mid / late) for the northern hemisphere in a temperate climate; altitude and season shift them.

Fruit

Small at full crop, very firm and tough; aroma slightly berry-like. Sweet with little acidity but tannic and rather flat, somewhat winey. Scab-free. Taste rating 3.

Growth

Triploid variety. Slow at first, later strong-growing, without ageing in old age. Large trees with a spreading, broad-globular to pyramidal crown; scaffold branches steeply upright at first, medium-dense with short to medium laterals; short fruiting wood. Very wind-firm, fruit holds storm-fast.

Yield

Late to bear, ever higher with age, alternating.

Notes

For the orchard meadow. Once very widespread in Germany. Can be harvested after light frosts. A long-keeping classic, storing 6-7 months.

Care

After the training cut, later only thin out; overall little pruning effort required.
