Storage

Given in thirds of a month (early / mid / late) for the northern hemisphere in a temperate climate; altitude and season shift them.

Description

Fruit

Very attractive fruit; flesh crisp, juicy, streaked with red. Fresh, fruity, relatively low-sweet flavour. Well tolerated by apple allergy sufferers. Taste rating 2-3.

Growth

Initially medium vigour, later weak. Scaffold branches tend to droop, dense lateral wood grows criss-cross. Short fruiting wood. Wind-firm until ripening.

Yield

Early to bear, high and regular. A heavy cropper.

Notes

Suitable for the garden and for higher altitudes. Stores about 2 months.

Care

Shorten scaffold branches frequently and carry out ongoing maintenance pruning. As the tree exhausts itself quickly through its heavy fertility, renew the fruiting wood regularly.
