Growing

Pterocarya fraxinifolia prefers sunny sites with moist, deep, well-drained soils. The plant tolerates periodic flooding and drought. It grows best in nutrient-rich loam soils with a neutral to slightly acidic pH. Propagation is by seed requiring cold stratification, or by cuttings and root suckers. Regular watering during the growing season promotes development; pruning should be done in summer to prevent bleeding.
