Inula helenium bevorzugt volle Sonne und frische, gut durchlässige lehmige oder tonige Böden mit neutralem bis schwach alkalischem pH-Wert. Während der Wachstumszeit regelmäßig wässern, sodass der Boden feucht, aber nicht staunass bleibt. Vermehrt wird durch Aussaat im Frühjahr oder Herbst oder durch Teilung zu denselben Zeiten. In windigen Lagen ist eine Stütze ratsam. Abgestorbenes Laub wird im Herbst oder zeitigen Frühjahr zurückgeschnitten.
