Growing
Oenothera speciosa thrives in full sun to part shade with well-draining sandy or loamy soils. It tolerates drought once established and prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH. Water deeply but infrequently during establishment, then reduce watering. Prune in fall to maintain size and encourage blooming. Propagate by seed or division. It spreads aggressively by rhizomes and self-seeding, so containment may be necessary.
