Somewhat oblong, tending smaller fruit with thicker mesocarp and fewer, smaller seeds than the common Manggis type – often practically seedless. Regarded as sweeter and finer in flavour.

Growth

Evergreen, slow-growing tropical tree like the standard type; grown in Malaysia as a preferred local selection.

Yield

No fixed Northern-Hemisphere season; harvested within the Malaysian ripening window (roughly June–August). High eating quality thanks to low seed content, at somewhat smaller fruit size.

Notes

One of the very few named mangosteen types; known only in Malaysia. Valued for flavour, texture and low seed content and the subject of recent genomic research.
